How to Express Your Style without being Immodest

Showing off any (the ones that are not supposed to be shown) part of my body brings me discomfort, so that has not been a way I choose to express my style.  I have always been a short person, so showing legs never really worked for me. For a period of time I did not wear that many shorts or short skirts. Now, I don’t care that my legs are short. I wear proper length shorts and skirts all I want. Cleavage what? Again, I am short and more on the petite side, so cleavage has always been a distant thought-not that I wanted to show it anyway.  Showing my abdomen is out of question. That never made sense to me why some girls roll up their shirts or wear those half shirts that are in style now. With all these dos and don’ts, how do you express yourself without having all eyes on your legs/thighs, butt, and cleavage? personally, I tried out different styles until I found something that complement my personality and match my values of how I should dress. I like being comfortable no matter what I am wearing-from my earrings to my heels. I am not asking you to wear long sleeve shirts, long pants or dresses all the time. I am simply saying be careful with the amount of skin you show and the reason you are showing it.

Here are a few tips of mine on how to flaunt it without showing it:

1.) Wear clothes that accentuate your body shape and size, but does not expose what is not meant to be shown:

Now, by accentuate, I don’t mean tights and spandex pants and shirts.  Here is an example: The other day I decided to wear my hair in a updo, with which I felt the need to wear a long  skirt and a nice blouse tucked inside of it. To top it off, I placed a belt around my waist and half-inch heels on my feet.  The only skin showing were my face, neck and arms. No amount of skin unnecessarily exposed could have made me feel as stylish and beautiful at that moment. The queen in me came out with my skirt slightly dragging on the floor, hair up in a nice bun, and a million dollar smile across my face. I walked out of my house ready to take on the day. For me, accentuating the shape of my body usually comes with wearing nice pair of jeans with my shirt tucked inside ( old school, I know-but I like it!), belt and nice heels for a casual look.  I have learned to like wearing dresses so every now and again I put on a knee length dress with a nice belt around my waist. For work, I wear suit pants or skirts, dresses, and cardigans over my shirts when I need to. Any other time, you will find me in jeans and shirt (I like being comfortable).

I am a 26 year-old educator on the run of becoming all that I can in the time that I have. A few years ago, I embarked on a journey filled with spiritual discoveries, healthy habits, and a passion for education stronger than I've ever had. Learning what to do to become a better person have always interest me. One of my passions is to know a little about everything in order to gain the capability of forming my own opinion so others won't have to do it for me. Another passion that was buried deep inside finally came to the surface and allowed me to see the adventurous side of me. I am on a journey to see the world and do things outside of my comfort zone. I will write all about it along the way!
